Nuclear Energy: Friend or Foe?
This problem-based unit is introduced through the eyes of a mayor of a town in which a nuclear power plant is located; he/she must decide if the facility should expand its waste depository. The students will learn about nuclear energy, as well as other renewable and nonrenewable energy resources. After much deliberation, the students will make recommendations about the use of the nuclear power plant in their fictitious town.
Hands-on Equations & Real World Math
Hands-On Equations is algebra for middle school students. This visual and kinesthetic instructional system enables students to easily and enjoyably learn essential algebraic concepts and skills.
The Power of Persuasion
The students will learn about the power of persuasion through literature, historical events, advertising, media and more. Student opportunities are presented for impromptu, informative and persuasive speeches, debate, small and large group discussion, and critical reasoning.
Independent Study/Creativity Project
Students can either research a topic that interests them and/or use their creativity to produce something original. Past projects include artwork, songwriting, dance choreography, photography, videogame design, storytelling, robotics, sign language, and much more. If you were given the freedom to direct your own learning and creativity, what would you choose?

Beebe Marketplace- Entrepreneurship
Students will use their knowledge of a market economy and entrepreneurship to write a business plan and then produce and sell their products or services at the Beebe Marketplace event in the cafeteria at Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences.
Create a Culture
Students will study cultures from around the world and then, using their creativity and knowledge, originate a culture of their very own, crafting a story of their origin & history and describing their government, housing, clothes, dance, music, family structure, customs, etiquette, and much more.
Marine Biology
Students will explore the wonders of ocean life by learning about the various ecosystems and how humans can help preserve them for the future. Students will even have the opportunity to dissect squid! At the end of the school year, there will be the option to attend Marine Biology Camp at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory at the University of Southern Mississippi near Biloxi.
